Since 2014, we have redistributed over 1800 tonnes of waste food, cooked and served over 36,000 meals, helped 100 people achieve a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate and seen dozens of volunteers move on into paid employment.

Resilience Self-Defence

Monday 7pm – 8pm. Wednesday 7pm – 8pm.

I established the club back in 2018 with the aim of becoming the premier provider of inclusive and progressive self-defence and fitness training in the Birmingham and West Midlands area. My club is friendly and relaxed, and I fill it with decent people.  We are emphatically non-macho, women friendly, LGBTQ+ inclusive, neurodivergent supportive, and body positive.  We are not filled with hardcore fighters or pro students.  We are a mixed bag of misfits from all walks, just like me, and probably just like you.  Resilience is a great place for anyone or everyone who is worried they might struggle to fit into a mainstream training environment.

Find out more at Resilience Self-Defence.

Ballroom Dancing

Friday 1pm – 3pm.

A relaxed and joyful afternoon of ballroom dancing, perfect for our more senior members. The session is organised and hosted by Fred — 92 years young and proudly known as Birmingham’s oldest DJ! Enjoy classic tunes, warm company, plenty of laughter, and of course, tea and biscuits every week.

Recommended for age 50+. To find out more, come along to one of the sessions!

Dudley Martial Arts

Monday 6:30pm – 7.30pm.

Dudley Martial Arts promotes martial arts in and around Birmingham and the West Midlands, typically practicing ITF Taekwondo, Hapkido and Kickboxing for sport and self-defense; as well as the use of traditional Korean weapons for demonstration and competition. We train under the guidance of ITF 8th Dan Master Joe Woods.

Find out more at Dudley Martial Arts.

Psst… would you believe there’s more?

Kings Heath Community Centre also plays host to numerous key community organizations and groups, such as Kings Heath Playcare Scheme, Diabetes Prevention, WeightWatchers Studio, and Birmingham City Council Housing Support, to name but a few.

And, most importantly… where else would we go to cast our ballots?

Special Events

In addition to the hustle and bustle of our weekly / monthly regulars, there are times when we are proud to make space for something special. To provide a common roof under which to celebrate our Diversity, our Pride, our Creativity. Something to remind you why you love where you live. We'll shout it from the rooftops, you won't want to miss these for the world!

Queens Heath Pride

Yearly in June / July.

Every year, Kings Heath Community Centre is proud to co-host Queens Heath Pride as one of the many venues contributing to the FABULOUS atmosphere delivered by the main event on York Road.

It was in 2021, against the backdrop of anti-LGBTQIA+ protests outside Birmingham schools, that Queens Heath Pride was born: a form of counter-protest/social experiment hybrid to investigate the effect that improving an area for queer people could have.

First founded in secret by a group of local residents, it is now out in the open, having since evolved into a full-scale, calendar event. Each year, our festivities begin with an organised Pride march (the shortest of its kind!), before various LGBQTIA+ performers take to the stage on York Road. In an effort to make our Pride as local as possible, we tend to keep the date – and our line-ups – under wraps until just two weeks out from the event itself, so keep an eye out for further announcements!

Find out more at Queens Heath Pride.

United Artists of South Birmingham Arts Markets

Occasional Saturdays 12pm – 4pm.

The Kings Heath Art Market is a monthly event celebrating the vibrant creative community in and around Kings Heath, South Birmingham. Organised by United Artists of South Birmingham (UASB) in collaboration with Trad Arts Team, the market provides a welcoming space for artists and makers to showcase and sell their original, handmade work.

The market brings together a changing mix of talent each month, from painters, illustrators and photographers to ceramicists, printmakers and mixed media artists. The focus is on originality and artistic quality — we curate the market to ensure a diverse range of art forms and styles.

Pop in to discover incredible stalls offering all sorts of arts and crafts magic- from ceramics, paintings, accessories, interiors, trinkets and gifts, from local artists plying their trade on your doorstep! You might encounter other surprises, like pop-up cafes with delicious food and drinks, live music, and more…
